Color, Fun, and Collaboration to a Shared Vision

Depending on the objective, team-building events can take many forms. The usual pre-packaged team-building services include activities to develop teamwork, trust, loyalty, and risk tolerance. These activities serve as metaphors that embed meaning in workplace collaboration. However, planning a team-building event opens opportunities for customized choices that leverage the particularities of your corporate culture.

At Acumenian, we seized the opportunity to highlight the concept of community as the vessel of our values. Our People and Culture leadership integrated a multidisciplinary team of advisors, including executives, operations, branding, and artists, to design a memorable experience that left a permanent impression on our offices and reminded us of our brilliant community. We could not be happier with the results.

Since we are a fundamentally technological company, we introduced a painting activity using traditional craft materials, such as brushes and acrylic paint, to ensure that most of our staff were out of their comfort zone. This approach resulted in funny reactions, jokes, and comments in an enthusiastic atmosphere.

Each participant got a numbered canvas and a reference image with few or no recognizable elements. With minimal instructions, they started painting their pieces at the facilitators’ signal, not knowing that the final work would be the sum of all their pieces to form a predetermined image installed on the wall.

Integrating remote collaborators in presential events is always challenging. But we make every effort to ensure our remote teammates have as great an experience as we do at the office.

We had a joyful time, leaving much room for undirected playfulness. That dynamic encapsulated the core message to our people: your work is indispensable to completing our vision and discovering what’s not evident.
